2026 KidWind Overseas Offshore Wind Acedemy
AESEA has reached a new educational milestone! This year, we are incredibly honored to announce a deep partnership with KidWind, the leading authority on wind energy education in the United States. Together, we are creating the first-ever overseas hands-on training camp between Taiwan and the US themed around "Offshore Wind Power"—the 2026 US KidWind Offshore Wind Summer Camp (KidWind Offshore Wind Academy).
This is not a traditional "classroom-style" camp, but rather an awe-inspiring educational journey deep into the US offshore wind industry chain. We will lead students across the Pacific and into real green energy industrial sites. From wind energy terminals and steel rolling mills to full-scale blade testing facilities, students will witness the entire lifecycle of a wind turbine—from raw materials to operation. This experience will build interdisciplinary international perspectives and provide practical green energy experience for Taiwanese students!
Camp Basic Information
- Camp Name: 2026 KidWind Overseas Offshore Wind Academy
- Dates: Saturday, July 18 to Sunday, July 26, 2026
- Camp Base: Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Cape Cod, USA
Daily Itinerary Highlights
🔹 Departure & Historical Exploration | July 18 (Sat) – July 19 (Sun)
- Departure for the US: Depart from Taoyuan International Airport on the evening of July 18 and arrive at Boston Logan Airport the following morning.
- Mayflower II Museum: Visit the historical starting point of the Pilgrims' journey across the Atlantic in 1620. Experience immersive historical reenactments to understand the risks of transoceanic navigation and the narrative of early American nation-building.
- Camp Check-in: Head to Cape Cod and check into the student dormitories at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, getting ready to embark on a rigorous and fulfilling scientific journey.
🔹 KidWind Offshore Wind Talent Training Academy | July 20 (Mon) – July 23 (Thu)
- Day 1 (Campus Renewable Energy & Maritime Training Facilities): Take an on-site guided tour of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy's wind turbines, solar power, and energy storage systems. Get hands-on experience with top-tier bridge simulators and marine engineering laboratories.
- Day 2 (Wind Energy Terminal & Carpenters Union Training Center): Visit the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal, the core port for offshore wind power on the US East Coast, to observe the assembly and loading of massive wind turbine components. Next, visit the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters (NASRCC) Training Center to learn about the foundational construction techniques for wind turbine tower steel structures.
- Day 3 (Marine Research Lab & Steel Rolling Mill): Visit the world-renowned Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) to explore symbiotic research between wind energy and the marine environment. Then, go deep into the Middleboro steel rolling mill to witness the complete high-temperature rolling process of wind turbine components, from raw steel billets to finished products.
- Day 4 (Full-Scale Blade Testing Facility & Industry Dialogue): Head to a large testing facility in Boston to observe the structural strength and fatigue testing of an 80-meter-long wind turbine blade. Conclude the course and engage in a career development dialogue with green energy industry experts.
🔹 From Wind Energy to the Deep Sea: The Frontlines of Marine Science | July 24 (Fri)
- WHOI Ocean Science Discovery Center: Climb into a 1:1 replica of the personnel sphere of the Alvin submersible—the same one that discovered the wreck of the Titanic—and explore cutting-edge research on deep-sea hydrothermal vent ecosystems and autonomous underwater vehicles.
- Woods Hole Science Aquarium: Visit the oldest public aquarium in the United States to learn about the New England coastal ecosystem and real-world fisheries science currently underway.
🔹 Boston Knowledge Axis: Top Science & Universities | July 25 (Sat)
- MIT Museum: Confront the cognitive challenges of AI-generated images, and experience the world's largest hologram collection alongside the Maker Hub workspace.
- Harvard Museum of Natural History + Peabody Museum of Archaeology & Ethnology: View the 19th-century masterpiece "Glass Flowers" models and 500 million years of evolutionary history, exploring two premier museum collections with a single ticket.
- Museum of Science, Boston: Witness a live lightning show from the world's largest Van de Graaff generator, turning physical formulas into a spectacular visual experience.
🔹 Honorable Graduation & Return Journey | July 26 (Sun)
- Heading Home: Carrying an official KidWind certification and a wealth of practical experience, head to Boston Logan Airport to catch a flight back to Taiwan.
Our Vision: As an annual flagship project officially hosted by AESEA, we hope that through this inaugural alliance with KidWind, we can cultivate the next generation of green energy innovation leaders for Taiwan.
