AESEA was honored to co-organize the 2025 Chiayi Wind Cup STEAM+KidWind Sustainable Wind Energy Invitational at the gymnasium of Dongshi Junior High School in Chiayi County. Fifteen elementary, junior high, and senior high school teams from across Chiayi City and County gathered to compete with great enthusiasm and experience the green energy appeal of wind power. The event was organized by Professor Su Chiung-wu of National Chiayi University, an advisor to our association, with the aim of raising awareness of and interest in wind power and green energy education among teachers and students in the Chiayi area, while cultivating students' cross-disciplinary innovation and hands-on skills. Blending competition with educational training, the event was rich, engaging, and highly educational — a vivid showcase of STEAM education integrated with sustainable energy topics.
At the opening ceremony, distinguished guests came to cheer the students on, including representatives from the Chiayi County Education Department and AESEA Chairman Professor Chou Chien-heng. In their remarks, the guests encouraged all participants to unleash their creativity and wished them outstanding performances. Before the competition began, Chairman Chou also delivered an engaging lesson on wind energy for the fifteen teams, giving students a solid knowledge boost before taking the stage. 🏫💡
During the competition phase, teams used KidWind wind energy kits to design and build their own wind power devices and created posters presenting their design concepts. Applying the principles of wind energy, they adjusted the shape, number, and angle of their turbine blades to develop distinctive turbine creations. From conception through assembly and fine-tuning, students brought their classroom learning to life, combining theory with hands-on practice — a demanding challenge tackled with great enthusiasm. ⚙️🌬️
In the afternoon finals, the organizers set up wind tunnel equipment to test power-generation performance, with each team's turbine measured on-site. Meanwhile, a judging panel of four experts and scholars from related fields evaluated the entries on power-generation efficiency, creative and technical presentation, craftsmanship, and oral presentation, giving high marks to the students' creativity and hands-on abilities. 🎖️👏
After a full day of intense and thrilling competition, the final results are in! 🥳 The winners are:
🥇 Gold Award: Dongshi Junior High School, Chiayi County — "Long Live the Chiayi Wind Cup"
🥈 Silver Award: National Zhuqi Senior High School — "Powered by Love"
