On the morning of the 22nd, the Nantou County Government held a "Commendation Ceremony for Outstanding Teacher-Student Teams in International Competitions." County Magistrate Hsu Shu-hua personally received and encouraged the award-winning teachers and students. Mr. Yang Tien-to, Secretary-General of AESEA, was warmly invited by the Nantou County Magistrate and the Director of the Education Department to attend the ceremony on behalf of the association and deliver a speech, together with the students, parents, teachers, and principals present, witnessing the profound moment when hard work transformed into smiles and honor.
This year, Nantou students demonstrated astonishing technological competitiveness on the international stage. At the2026 KidWind World Challengein the United States, the Taiwan delegation swept 2 world championships and 1 Blade Engineering Award:
During the report, Secretary-General Yang Tien-to specially shared two moving stories from the international competition stage, vividly illustrating the unique strengths of Taiwan's students:
"A County Without a Sea, Yet Stirs Up Winds That Amaze the World"
Nantou is Taiwan's only landlocked county without wind power facilities, and its resources may be relatively scarce. However, when this background was explained to the international judges, they were all incredibly impressed and admired the astonishing explosiveness and outstanding performance demonstrated by Nantou's children despite resource limitations.
"Engineering is the Language of the World, Culture is Our Pride"
Engineering data and principles are universally applicable, but the children painted unique Taiwanese cultural totems on their wind turbine blades. This ingenious blend of "local culture" and "green energy technology" is irreplaceable and unique, and it deeply captivated the international judges.
Behind these brilliant achievements, the strong support of parents and the government is indispensable. County Magistrate Hsu Shu-hua not only affirmed the teachers and students who have long dedicated themselves to STEM education but also pledged on the spot:Next year's county government budget for overseas scholarships and grants will be significantly increased from NT$13 million to NT$20 million, fully supporting individual study abroad or team participation in competitions, to enable more Nantou students to step onto the international stage and broaden their horizons.
Secretary-General Yang stated that County Magistrate Hsu's decisiveness made it profoundly clear that only through seamless cooperation among "government, schools, and the association" can the talents and brilliance of children truly be shared far and wide to every corner of the world.
Sincere congratulations to all the award-winning Nantou students!
We look forward to your future, which will be vastly different and more expansive because of this wind.
We also once again thank the Nantou County Magistrate and the Education Department for their strong support, allowing the seeds of the KidWind Wind Energy Challenge to continue taking root, and guiding the next generation to explore infinite possibilities in engineering creativity and sustainable development.
