2026 FOBISIA Cup KidWind Wind Energy Invitational

Announcement: 2026 FOBISIA Cup KidWind Wind Energy Invitational

The 2026 FOBISIA Cup KidWind Wind Energy Invitational will be held at Taipei European School. This year's event is organized in partnership with FOBISIA (the Federation of British International Schools in Asia) to jointly promote renewable energy education. The collaboration embodies the close alignment of international educational exchange with sustainable development, creating a stage for students across Asia that combines academic challenge with innovative, hands-on practice.

The KidWind Challenge originated in the United States, driven by the nonprofit organization KidWind, and has been growing worldwide for more than 15 years. Through curriculum materials, teacher training, and competitions, it cultivates students' understanding of renewable energy and their ability to apply it. At its core, the program combines science education with hands-on making: as students design and test wind turbines, they exercise creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. In recent years, participation across Asia has grown steadily, with students not only surpassing their own limits in competition but also representing the region at the World Finals, exchanging ideas with young peers from around the globe.

FOBISIA, the key partner for this event, was founded to promote collaboration and professional development among British international schools across Asia, providing member schools with a platform for exchange in academics, sports, and the arts. Through this cross-border federation, FOBISIA continues to raise the quality of international education and create diverse opportunities for students to learn and shine. Its partnership with KidWind extends its educational impact while underscoring a shared commitment to environmental sustainability and global citizenship.

The FOBISIA Cup KidWind Wind Energy Invitational will feature a Junior High Division and a Senior High Division. Within a set time limit, teams must demonstrate wind turbine design, performance testing, and engineering thinking, and submit complete engineering notebooks and display work. Beyond technical results, the competition places strong emphasis on creativity, professionalism, and environmental responsibility, guiding students to bring innovative perspectives to global energy challenges.

⚠️ Please note: This competition is open exclusively to FOBISIA member schools. Each team must consist of four students led by one teacher. Registration procedures and competition rules will follow the organizer's official announcements.

We warmly invite teachers and students of FOBISIA member schools to join us — advancing energy education and environmental sustainability through knowledge and practice, and showcasing the boundless potential of the next generation on the competition stage.

Sincerely, AESEA (Asia-Pacific Energy and Science Education Association)
